Based on the number of wrong decisions coming from the USDA and FDA, I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in that recommendation. Potatoes have been researched for a hundred years by different groups. The real problem with potatoes is that people just eat too many of them, especially French fries.
I'm thinking that the governmint thinks it is easier to tell people not to eat white potatoes than to just tell them not to eat so many French fries! Just as the current governmint wants to control guns - because that is easier than trying to control the mentally ill people that are shooting innocent people.
