They had been buying choice box beef for a couple months, pushed the price up a fair bit, but no one knew where the demand for it was coming from til they made their announcement.
I bought some steaks at walmart once. They looked great til I got the package opened up. They were brown where they were touching each other and ended up fed to the dogs, didn't even taste like beef. I'll shop elsewhere if I have to buy meat.
I've also seen how they handle stuff coming off a reefer trailer, too. They are supposed to roll up the door, stick a thermometer between a couple boxes, shut the door, and wait 5 minutes, to check the product temp. They'll pull a pallet of lunch meat and cheeses off the truck, stick it under one of those tube radiant heaters that will melt the hair off your head, unload the rest of the truck, then want to reject it for being too warm because they temped something that warms up quick, and set it under a major heat source.
