Meh.. If the Ford is in better shape and cheaper then I guess that would determine my decision. Yes, the Ford engines of that vintage were known to have perforation issues with the block. Nobody seems to mention the number of IH's that lost engines due either to liner perforation or liner seals leaking coolant. ALL of those engines require regular maintenance to the coolant through either changes or addition of conditioner. Both IH issues were equally as prevelant an issue as Ford's perforated blocks. The Ford block can most times be repaired with a heavy wall pressed fit sleeve. I've never run either tractor but I suspect the Ford has a bit more solid drive train. At least the dual power won't whoof it's cookies every couple thousand hours.
