ULSD is a way to market diesel on the global market. Europe won"t allow non-ULSD into the euro system, which buy the way is sold at a higher margin. To reach a greater profit margin the large refiners had legislation passed to require ULSD fuels in the US. All ULSD processes refine the distillate to extract sulfur which has a lubrication factor not a moisture factor. The gentleman who was mentioning the bacteria as an issue is accurate, sorry but the truth is still the truth. Unless you add an additive to combat Ethanol you will continue to experience this problem. I live in the PNW and most tankers are specific to the task and the corrosion is not an issue. No offense crop farmers but "organic" fuels mixed with Carbon based molecular structures doesn"t work well. Again my suggestion is to use an additive that will kill the bacteria and combat the ethanol effects not only in your diesel but also in you petrol vehicles.
