A nephew of mine (single at the time) once owned a farm house where strange things happened.
He said never anything menacing, just odd things. He'd come home from work and find a closet door standing open that he knew had been shut and latched when he left in the morning. Or he'd work out in the yard for an hour or two in the evening and when he went back in the house a chair would be moved in the living room. Or he'd leave a coffee cup sit on one end of the kitchen counter when he went to bed and in the morning the cup would be on the other end of the counter.
This nephew finally moved out and his brother moved in. The brother was supposed to do some drywalling in lieu of paying rent. The two got into a squabble over how much work was being done, and somewhere along the way the house got sold.
