In my area of Northwest North Carolina ( Stokes County), currently in very good shape for rainfall on my farm. Blessed with 2-1/2 inches in last two weeks from scattered showers. Had a quarter inch yesterday from the cold front that is chasing Arthur away. However, go just a couple miles away and it is very dry. Went to a farm supply store about 10 miles west of here and a man told me there has been only 4/10 inches in the last six weeks there. He started feeding hay as pastures are dried up. Lawns around houses would burn. Fields of corn in tassel stage was twisted, tobacco short and irregular in size, soybeans short and sickly. Some beans just planted after wheat will not sprout until a good rain. Drought map showing area west of me to be moderate drought.
