I saw once the very first Andy Griffith show pilot, when it was a Danny Thomas Show episode. It was funny too. Danny Thomas was driving to Florida from New York, I think, and got pulled over by Sheriff Andy Taylor in Mayberry. There was no Barney, just a very southern twang talking Andy, and Opie must have been about 3 or 4. He didn't have the desk we're used to, just a big table. It was a very funny episode that obviously spun off the Andy Griffith Show as we knew it, when TV was good.
