Closer to the truth than you would imagine. I was in a "brush up" course at a college before writing my Certificate of Qualification for my 309A . Guy behind me asked the instructor to explain "Holmes Law" . A brief but total silence came over the class and the instructor said "parden"? Dude asked again can you explain " Holmes Law". There was a couple of sniggers then silence again and the instructor appeared confused then concerned. Turns out Bubba Jr was trying to slide into an Industrial Electricans License after five years of wiring houses. No grade 12 graduation , no high school electrical theory and no trade school during his apprenticeship.

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity".
