My opinion, but the Iowa State fair is not so much about Iowa anymore. It seems to be more about Des Moines and big city ways. Used to be huge displays of farm equipment from ALL the manufacturers. Now, about the only tractors you will see are the restoration projects of the 4H and FFA members, which is good, because those young folks do a very good job of restoring grandpa's tractor.
Still there is plenty to do and see, but there is a LOT of walking involved, and walking is the ONLY way to see all of it. To do it right, get there early, and plan on spending the entire day.
