We had a friendly, happy-go-kucky dog that would not chase an animal for anything. If you told him "sic 'em", he'd just stand and look at you with an exoression thatindicated "I ain't mad at that animal, so I'm not going to chase it! He wouldn't even grab a rabbit that ran right by him.
One day the neighbor's scrub bull came over, got into our pasture and started a fight with our purebred Shorthorn bull. I took the 8N into the oasture and tried to ram the bull to break up the fight. About that time Spot hurled himself at the scrub bull, bit him right on the end of his nose and hung on. Bull tried to shake him off but Spot wouldn't let loose.
Bull finally ran for the gate and headed home. As soon as the bull got off the property, Spot let loose and trotted back home. That bull never came back again.
