Rich, Your first web site shows two filters the one left without and one right with a by-pass. You can look inside the screw hole in filter and see the bypass on a stens and the purolator filter at walmart has a no bypass, just a solid bottom. Purolator specs say there is a bypass, but there isn't.
The same is true with an oem briggs and oem kohler, which is the same filter, both solid bottoms, no by pass. I see no need to cut one apart when I can look inside and see the by pass.
This kind of ends my quest.
