I can't believe some of the comments.
I'm not sure if some of these comments are made from assumptions, or from understanding of the entire story. If they are coming from an understanding of the entire story, then I am ashamed and embarrassed for you.
Just incase anyone missed it, here are a few of the main aspects.
Williams was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder. He had sought help for alcohol abuse and drug abuse in the past. He had been seeking treatment for depression. He was found hanging from a closet door with a belt. He had cuts on his wrists. He was found by his assistant, in a seated position, inches off the floor.
I'm not sure if all you wonderful caring and loving jerks know what that means, but it means he was sick. He was very sick. Regardless of how much money he had, he worked hard. None of us even know what his finances were. Who is to say that he was "rich" as some say? His last show was cancelled, and I'm pretty sure I am saw him a snickers tv commercial. Regardless...
The will to live is a human function, like breathing. People who aren't sick do not go to those lengths to kill themselves. No one here would ever be able to choke themselves to death. Think about it for a minute. It's not like he jumped 20 feet with a rope around his neck. He didn't put a gun in his mouth. he didn't jump off a cliff. Think about all the cowardly ways a person could kill themselves. All those things that are akin to flipping off the light switch... What he did is not of that manner. What he did means he was sick. Maybe his sickness made him brilliant. I don't know about you, but, I bet he wished he could be a Midwestern farmer with no mental problems sitting behind a computer, belittling those with mental incapacities; than to be the one with the money, fame, and all the metal health problems.
I hope my post gets this thread deleted.
PS: To those who think that his death will mean nothing- I will almost guarantee you that mental health issues and depression treatment will be under the microscope for months to come. How are we to know he wasn't on a prescription that had "suicide" as a side effect? I bet you that something will change now. His death(the way he died) was too big to be ignored.
