Why would anyone WANT granite counter tops in the first place. Granite, marble, concrete counter tops all require regular maintenance to keep them sealed. You cannot set a HOT pan on them, and you sure don't want to drop anything on them or they will crack. I guess they are okay if your kitchen is just a "showplace", but if you actually use it for preparing food, it is very impractical. Give me a good ol' Formica counter top any day.
