These are mild, sting wise brown wasp and even the larger yellow ones I believe are worse. These were honey bee size, not as thick. Dummy me, I forgot they live in the base of trees, in decayed parts of same, I ran over one the year before, they never figured it out, and I saw the crowd of them. The other thing is, thankfully, their population is usually small, I have seen larger nests, but most are limited in population, there were just enough to certainly cause some grief, but I re-grouped, kept working, driving past the nest, looking down, no more wasps/yellow jackets, "I win". There are some of these in my chimney, and a heck of a lot more of them in that nest, most times you will see them and be able to escape, get tagged once and they will pile on you, darned things ! LOL !
