Ive cut weod with a buzz saw since 69. EVERY YEAR. ive used spliced belts for at least 30yrs. Ive even drilled holes in the belt with a drill and laced them with leather thong. These bailer belts are smooth on one side and grooved on the other, making for a better, but noisier grip, as the belt has to be 1/2 turned on the saw, and turned twice, due to the side of the hammermill im on, on the hammermill.
Most people seemed to think that a shorter belt is needed on a buzz saw. I did, cause dad did, and im using the saw my granddad gave dad for a wedding present in 40. There wrong, I think. Using 2 lengths of bailer belt puts me roughly 30/40ft away from the saw, and I say it runs smoother on a long belt.
