If you have 20 acres of pasture and just want meat for table? make 2 10 acre pastures, get 4 to 6 Jacobs, Barbados Black Belly, Shetland or Katahdin wethers and let then do the mowing, weed and feed in pasture rotation. Water tank and shed at split pasture fence line with 2 gates. If other breed is cheap locally like old Suffolk or Columbia, get them instead. Late spring lambs now about 1/2 grown, still a couple months before snow locally- South Dakota maybe about the same before heavy snow. No ewes until next year until you've had some experience with little woolies- if you figure they're too much hassle you just 'eat' your test efforts and figure something else, not likely to have much invested beyond the fence. Could get some 'free' rescue horses to feed if you want to go crazy. RN
