Might's well add my two cents about NLA parts. The fellow Jeff buys his bedding from brought a wagon load of hay last night. Jeff tried to unload it and the elevator broke. This morning he took the end pulley/chain adjuster off (NH) and it was pretty well bent and beat up. Since we had another load of bedding coming at about 10:30 and the fellow wanted to take this wagon back with him, I mae a quick trip to the local CIH guys who have been NH dealers since the invention of dirt.
The part will be $76, HOWEVER it's NLA from NH. Our computer says the part is availible from a gent in Clyde NY who makes them and we buy them from him, but It won't be here until tomorrow. Thanks guys, but I gotta get this thing going today. It's supposed to rain tomorrow. Sheesh, you would think with the hundred gazzilion of those skeleton elevators that NH has sold over the years that there would be a market for the parts for those things.
So I stopped off at TSC and picked up a piece of channel iron ($18) and made a new one myself. Got the dang thing back together and running about noon, which was okay, since the fellow who sells Jeff the hay and said he wouldn't be on time either since HE was broke down.
The long and short of it is that the part I built out of channel iron is twice as strong as the pressed steel original and cost me around $30 to make. The elevator now works the best it has since he bought it.
