I finally gave in yesterday and bought a different pickup. Went to a fleet sale with 23 Ford pickups on it and came home with my second choice. An 07 F250 4x4 gas. 190,000 miles,tow package with the integrated trailer brake,I guess anyway according to the manual and paperwork. I've got the complete service records on it. Had new ball joints a year ago. There are records from a Ford dealer in California and it has a little bit of hail damage to the hood,so I don't think it's from around here. I got it for $5250. Made me nervous because there were at least three dealers there buying them up and most were bringing 8-9 thousand,with a few at 10 or more. Made me wonder what I missed when I looked it over. The one I really went for ended up being the last one sold and I didn't want to risk coming home empty handed. Good thing I got this one. The other one was an 01 F450 4x4,crew cab 4 door with a 7.3 diesel,6 speed manual. I was thinking $8500 all along on that one until I saw it. I didn't think it was much of a step up from what I had when I got a look at it. They said it needed glow plugs,but it looked like they had been messing with solenoids and there was a sticker on the dash that said to plug it in. If it was an easy fix,you'd have thought they'd have done it. The brake pedal went almost to the floor,it had a dent in the drivers side rear door and the tires weren't the best. There was no gooseneck ball or even a hole in the deck of the flatbed for one. I thought $5000 would be plenty for it but it brought 9.
