Good point, I agree, for example, mutual inductance and capacitance between parallel conductors can yield a voltage above earth potential if you're running wires a great distance and Im sure enough energy and voltage to get shocked grrrrrrrrrrr If you run a 4 wire system out to a remote barn the Ground is again tied back to earth to reduce potential from tools or appliances out there so you or old Bossie don't get shocked when you touch them...
