Alarm system. Every door and window is hooked up (even the upstairs windows). Loud sirens inside attic mounted at the gable vents. (so thief can't see/disable them but sound will exit easily). Live in a subdivision with lots of houses within earshot of the sirens. 2 dogs (GSPs) who bark and lunge at anyone who is at the door or a window. Police are called on unfamiliar or suspicious people walking around the neighborhood. Been there close to 30 years and the crime reports are VERY low. Most homes have alarm systems so biggest threat is kids going through unlocked cars or garages.
