Most folks are good. The bad ones make the headlines. I filled up a nice Oldsmobile one day (before self service) and when I went to the driver's window the young gal was crying - said she didn't have her purse, and could her dad come by and pay me later? I knew everyone in the community, and I'd never seen her or the car before, but what do you do? Old softy me just said sure, pay me later, but I figgered it would come outa my pay. Right before closing time, the same Olds pulled up and the guy thanked me for helping his daughter, paid her bill and slipped me a generous tip. I never saw either of them again, so I'm thinking he had to drive a considerable distance to pay me.
