heard on the local news that is was 66 years a go last night when the blizzard of 48 struck this area. 30 inches of snow with high wind.
Dad was nine years old at the time. he told me the township had a TD-9 crawler with a V-plow. it got stuck near the drive of grandpa's farm. The neighbors pulled it out with two JD A's(one was grandpa's) one Farmall M and a war time JD G on steel.
I don't know how they hooked the tractors to the front of the plow. They had to pull the TD9 through most of the snow drifts. They put the G in the front. The steel wheels make a track for the rubber tired tractors to follow. Later one track came off the TD9. Dad said they worked on the track for two days.
