Hopefully the "stubborn old fart" has set in at 72, because that $12.95 oil change is a loss leader to get you in the door so they can upsell you on a bunch of other services your car "needs."
That is if they don't hit you up for a bunch of surcharges.
I pay around $60 for an oil change, which comes with checks and top-offs of all the other fluids, a basic inspection of the vehicle, all lube points greased. They try to upsell me on other services, but at 215,000+ miles there really isn't anything that's worth changing other than engine oil at this point. Even that's getting to be an iffy proposition as the oil change is 5% of the truck's book value.
