Some discussion down below of some long-forgotten song lyrics reminded me of how good this forum is about coming up with obscure information.
For a long time I've been trying to find the lyrics to a country song (name unknown) by (name unknown). I do know the first three verses:
"Sister Katy Jones passed away, so I went down to the funeral parlor, to offer my sympathy to millionaire Henry Jones. Well, he was cryin' and a-tryin' to act sad, but I could tell he wasn't broken-hearted, that his mate of forty-eight years had just passed on.
"A few weeks later he came to church on a sunny Sunday mornin', blowin' and a-crowin', all swelled up and a-glowin' with pride. And a sweet young thing, about nineteen, was a-clingin' to his arm. He said, 'Brother, I'd like to have you meet my brand-new bride.'
"Well his young wife smiled, blinked her big blue eyes, shook my hand and said, 'Hello, brother, how're you?' I said, 'Thank you I'm fine,' thinkin' all of the time, 'Life's gotta be sunny when you've got that money workin' for you.'"
The fourth verse, in which Brother Henry proves to be not up to the task he has assumed, is the one I'm missing. This song got a lot of play back in the 70s or early 80s. I googled a lot of times over the years but never picked up anything on it. Any of you remember it?
