One time Pop had rats that had chewed a hole through a concrete wall between the barn and milkroom. He'd repair the cement and the stinkin' rats would chew it right back out within a couple of days. So he used pipeline acid cleaner (phosphoric acid) instead of water to mix the cement. They would chew through, but make it only about two feet after that. About two weeks of that and we had em pretty well cleaned out. Pop just put an inch thick patch or so over the hole and, Voila!, dead rat the next morning.
