Witmer's Equipment in Columbiana, Ohio sold a Gleaner K in decent shape (few small things wrong) this past summer for $9000. I thought that was crazy. Apparently there is a market for very good clean used smaller combines right now.
I've been saying for years that if someone would build a small easy to haul combine with modern features like air conditioning and hydraulic unloading auger and a _quiet_ cab that they would sell on a specialist market. Problem is, to get people to buy, the price would have to be under $20,000. It probably couldn't be done for less than $60,000. Just look at what a new square baler costs!
I must say, that Gleaner K would have looked great in my shed for $5000. $8000? Maybe if all the belts were less than a year old, and all hydraulic hoses the same. With that much age, just sitting, too many things can go wrong.
I do miss my Gleaner K. I won't miss it this coming July when it is 90 degrees, 80 percent humidity, and I am in a wheat field in the John Deere 6620 Titan II sidehill... with air conditioning and a radio... 8)

You can never have wide enough tires or heavy enough weights to get all the traction you want … unless you own a monster tractor. U
