Years ago I had great luck with Alemite CD-2, both types, the one for high mileage cars especially, loosening the stuck rings in Ford and Mercury V-8s and the high mileage stuff for quieting noisy engines. STP will help lube worn out engines for a while too, but not help oil burning much. Never have used Lucas Products...yet.

While I love straightening sheet metal, cleaning, and painting old tractors, I use every excuse to avoid working on the on the electrics. I find the whole process sheer mystery. I have picked up and attempted to read every auto and farm electrics book with no improvement in the situation. They all seem to start with a chapter entitled "Theory of Electricity".
