The original seal was a WIDE double lipped seal, one lip to keep the oil in the differential/transmission, and the other lip to keep the oil in the final drive.
Typically, those old WIDE specialty seals are no longer made, so they are replaced by two narrower seals.
What you received was a "kit" of two narrow seals that replace the original (wide) seal.
Most likely, they get installed back-to back with the "garter springs" facing outward.
The two seals have a different "offset" of the sealing lip vs. the housing.
If you examine where they get installed and the construction of the old seal, you should be able to figure out the correct orientation in which to install them.
