When I want to fill and don't want to deal with the pump I go inside and just give them my card and have them turn on the pump. When done I go back in and settle up. It's still a pain to have to go in twice but sometimes it's the best way. Another way is just skip all the discount hoohaa and enter through it. Even better find a station that doesn't have the fancy pumps and go there.
