Bryce, as others have said you included a little too much information on your E-mail. Don't volunteer to much, it might of served you better to simply ask what he was thinking on price. he guy might be a little ticked because he's the one snapping up $200 tractors (and trying to resell them for $5,000) and you're muscling in on his turf.
From my experience if they're looking for "Best offer" on Craig's List they're not really looking for the best offer, they're looking for someone who will pay more than it's worth. Combine that with the dreaded "no lowballers" and I pretty much think jerk and move on (okay so I think stronger stuff, but you're only 16 and this is a family friendly forum). It's a game and you got to learn sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. P.T Barnum said "there's a sucker born every minute" some folks figure looking for the suckers is a good business plan. A better business or life plan is to avoid folks like that altogether, they're out for all they can get weather they've earned it or not and don't mind taking it from you and not delivering value for the money you spent.
But then again I'm an old Fuddy Duddy with some strong ideas of right and wrong, served in the USAF as an officer so I was taught that "Duty, Honor and Country" stuff and hold many strong views many of which are no longer considered politically correct.

What’s even more amazing is that all the principals of hydraulic theory can be wrapped up in such a small package. This same package applies to any hydraulic system from the largest bulldozer to the oldest and smallest tractor. This short series will take a look at the basic layout of a simple hydraul
