my very stubborn dog got it the first day also... using a safepet collar and wire system.. He has got to be the dumbest dog I have ever had. But he got the shock down quickly. If I set if for low level, he has figured out he can run across it. If I set it at medium or higher, he gets enough of a jolt to respect it. He only tests it when there are other dogs around.
