You know, I thought the opposite when I bought the tractor. Having grown up around clam shell fender tractors, I thought they were the ticket. What I'm finding is the flat top fenders are mighty handy for setting stuff on when tooling around the tractor. On the LH side is a tool box and on the RH side is a plastic tube used to hold the owners manual - which is in my house away from any rain, etc. I think I'm going to take it off and put a nice basket in it's place, to hold gloves, etc and also mount a cup holder.
