I've owned 3 hydros.There were several around the neighborhood when I was a kid.Yes,you can 'farm'(plow/disk...) with them.They do use more fuel.And you need to be aware of the way the tractor is 'working'.Very easy to overload.Guys just keep pushing the lever foreward,way past the 'sweet spot'.Then they get hot,some guys try to operate in HIGH range.Keep your RPMs up,and keep it in LOW while in the field.Seen em used for years as the big tractor.One neighbor had both a 4430 and a Turbocharged Hydro 100.In the spring,a 4x16 rollover plow would get put on each.They would plow side by side in the same furrow.The 'old man' would run the H100,get along fine.The kid would push and get it hot.So,yes you can farm with em.
