I bought an '88 Dodge Dakota that was pretty much snake-bit from the start. 1988 was the first year of production for these. Ordered an nice bright red one, waited a couple of weeks for it to come in. Dealer called and said your truck is in, went up there (about an hour drive away). It was sitting on a separate lot, went over there with the sales guy.... big crease on the hood. Into their body shop, and got it in another 2 wks., they did a nice job, couldn't tell it was damaged. Took a trip in it that year to VA and FL... got hit in a hotel parking lot. The next year several sensors went bad and had to be replaced (warranty covered). A couple of weeks later the transmission went bad, real bad. Took them 3 weeks to fix it, apparently is was a new model trans and the dealer had no experience with it. That was the last straw, sold at a loss to a drunken airline pilot for cash and bought an '89 Ford full size van. Never had such bad luck with a vehicle before or since. We've never owned another Chrysler corp. product since then either.
