Same here near St. Clair Michigan. On my 55 acres that I've owned for 10 years now, always saw rabbits when I first bought the land. Plenty of tracks in the snow during the winter. Never saw/heard a coyote until last year. This winter, I've not seen a single set of rabbit tracks. Coincidence? I think not. I figure the coyotes will move on once the food source runs out. My concern is that, like the Howells, I have a couple of dogs that I let run free on our land. They're GSPs (high energy hunters) and love to run through the woods and fields. They stay nearby me but not always within eyesight. I'm afraid what would happen if they came upon a pack of hungry coyotes. I see mixed outcomes on this thread alone ("dogs chased the cotyotes off", "coyote chased the dogs"). Bottom line is that if I see a coyote and I'm armed, I'll take a shot.
