The 1936 F-12 that I had was in great condition and would start on the first crank every time if it hadn't sat more than a day, but after that it needed to be pulled to start it. Otherwise I would find a way to prime the fuel pump. I was told that there is a priming inlet on some F-12s sticking out of the hood. It's been many years since I've had mine. Thinking you lost your fuel to the carb.
