The Great Grays use the previous year's hawks nests; they are quite high and hard to spot at times. This picture shows the nest with the hatchlings, if that is what they are called. Storms will bring down the fragile hawks nests at times, so artificial nest platforms are put up also, to help out these beautiful owls. The owls do not build their own nests, and there may not be hawks nests around for them to use.
