There is no PCV valve on that engine, at least not on mine. A head gasket normally doesnt cause that problem on that engine,since theres no water, and USUALLY the head gasket being bad results in smoke at start up, unless its a horizontal shaft engine, but it could still be a head gasket, or something simple as youre not getting it hot enough. Id suspect, though, its worn out and letting alot of blowby past the rings. Ive got 2 of the Command engines, only put 1 head gasket, on each cylider, on the 23hp, and other than rountine maintenance on my 17, it hasnt been touched.
