Toyota was making the army 4x4 transport that developed into the Land Cruiser- sort of Chevy based variation of Dodge weapons Carrier 3/4 ton utility. Toyota had been assigned the chevy assembly plant taken over by Japanese Government late 1930s- Chevy 6 bolt wheels and Axle Hub from 1/2 ton pickup, car axle became a Japanese army and government standard. Honda ? not around as a company yet- Sicoro Honda was in Army signals/communications corp(?) working on some portable generators and got familiar with small engines and post war put some of them on reinforced bicycle frames. Kubota? don't recall anything or even if they were around then, have to call the Google/Wiki. RN
