Those are really nice !!! I remember using lures mostly, but have used nightcrawlers and crayfish at times, can't recall what I was going for when using those its been so long, that and because the lures worked so well. It was a lot of fun as a kid, learning what works best and when.

One thing that stood out, was at dusk, when the insect action started, they start hitting but good, the small mouth bass, usually every night at that time. I used jitterbugs too, if it was calm, but that dipper was the most productive when they were feeding. I fished every spot on that reservoir, and learned where the best ones were over the years, but it does change so if you don't keep up on it, you have to start over. Some spots were fantastic, others you'd get skunked under ideal conditions.

I never fished in our nearby river before, never caught anything big before either So I went for stripers when I was about 26 or 27, using Bomber segmented lures and or herring. When those run, it was something for me, can't eat them though. Caught walleye and tiger musky in there too, also northern pike, those I was good at, they like the calm passages around or between islands, steel leaders and segemented bombers too if I recall. I used a canoe to be quiet, it always worked well. Anchored near a spillway for stripers one time, was calm and other boaters were around. They must have opened up something up stream, it got really bad, really quick. Was with a friend and he panicked, I said cut the darned anchor or we will drown if we go into that current, it was very calm before. Finally he did it, boy did he panick, cut it, cut the darned thing..... phhewww!!!! close one, good place to fish, but you had best be prepared to pull up anchor quickly, the darned line was so taut, forget it, we will buy another one, not worth dying over LOL !
