Another harvest story. Rear axle bearing went out on my 79 Dodge W200 east of Grand Island Ne. Got so hot the axle was wrecked. Where do we find a rear axle with a 4:10 ratio (full time 4WD) on a Saturday afternoon on the plains of Nebraska! Where do we find a Dodge rear axle period! There happened to be one in a little salvage yard about five miles back. in probably two and a half hours the Dodge was humming down the road again with a new axle. It was pulling the tool trailer so we had everything we needed to change in on the side of a gravel road. We still talk about that one.
