I just think the high oil pressure system on the Fords is a poor design. Why not just use a third rocker arm like most of the rest of the engines use??? Million mile semi motors use that system.
The 7.3 Diesel is good motor. I have a 2000 F350 that I am getting on the road this summer. The 6.0 and 6.4 Ford diesels have too many issues to be good. I think they would be great if they did not have the EPA mandated garbage on them. A good friend has 6 2008 F250s for work trucks. At factory setup they give trouble regularly. With the EGR deleted and the exhaust filter gone they are pretty darn good. The trouble being they then are not legal in too many places.
My brother runs three Duromax Chev's. They run fine but the mileage and upkeep cost is not low on them.
The mileage is not good on any of the EPA rigged diesel motors in pickups.
