It musta happened, it was in the newspaper, with pics.
Spartanburg, SC. 80 or so pound black bear spotted on Otis Blvd, which is in the middle of an old, very nice neighborhood. It climbed a tree and dozed on a limb for a while. Wildlife officers called. They watched the bear and eventually it got down and left. They followed it to some woods. Wildlife officers would like to put a tracking collar on one or more to see if they are staying around or just passing through. I've gotten along just fine for all my life without bears around here and I would like to keep it that way.
