Paul they upgraded em to 6 lug sometime along the way. That is a 2 1/2 ton. All of the 5 tons had vertical exhaust from sometime in the 60's while the 2 1/2 ton didn't get vertical exhaust unless it had the deep water fording stack or until the "clean air" engine upgrade was installed stating in the 80's. The "clean air" was only installed on the multi fuel engine failure or the truck went through depot level rebuild. There were duce drivers all over the place deliberately trying to blow up their engines to get the new diesel only turbocharged clean air engine. Then a few short years later the cold war was over and the military went through the "peace dividend" draw down. The Army had enough new model 5 tons that they purge the duce in favor of the 5 ton at all levels.
