(quoted from post at 03:20:45 06/06/15) You most likely will find the cross shaft in the pedal assembly is twisting in the lever that pulls the cable. This is a weak point. I have fixed several by taking the pedal assembly down and out, taking the bushings for the shaft out of the mount and welding it back together using a 5/8 cross shaft instead of the little one. Without the bushings the 5/8 fits fine. Grease the shaft and tube well and it will last longer than the truck.
Just mark the position of the pedal and the lever before removing then put the lever back on allowing for the slippage so the cable will work again.
Parts are not available unless you can find a pedal assembly in a wrecking yard.
