I'm guessing you are coming to Rochester, MN... or does Mayo have a campus in the Twin Cities now?
At either city, it could be icy, snowy and cold enough to hurt your face and fingers.
But on occasionally in November it can still be nice enough to go golfing... but that's rare November weather.
The year we got married, we got almost 10 inches of snow the first week of November - but that's unusual too.
I'd just plan for a motel if you can afford it - that way if it does get ugly, at least you're not lugging a trailer behind you.
IF coming to Rochester, there are hotels (and restaurants/shops) that are connected to Mayo Clinic by sky-walks and pedestrian subways. Pretty nice if it's cold and rainy.
Might like to use Google Earth and take a look at the area right around Mayo... over the years they have closed a few streets and made it into the Peace Plaza.
Hope your wife gets good results. You will be in good hands - Mayo is a top notch medical facility.
