Not so much the paint but the primer. The best way to seal against rust is epoxy primer. If it's rusted now you have to thoroughly clean the rust off first first. Then the best paint you could use would be an automotive urethane however then contain a hardener that is very unhealthy to spray even with a respirator. You need a air supplied respirator to spray that. It has a compressor that pumps fresh air to the mask.
