I don't know how valuable any land grant college survey will be because it will not include free use of the tenant farmer's hunting cabin or 20 percent of the rent under the table. At least there are too many off the page perks offered to make sense of a "going" rate. I can't afford not to write off rent because it was paid in cash with the understanding that the landlord was not going to claim it on their income taxes. It's not like the landlord gives any discount for cash to offset my income tax issue.
