I have yet to figure out how to make money with old tractors. I would be lucky to break even on that tractor. I wouldn't be happy just getting it running. I would want to make sure it was reliable and I wasn't passing on a future problem to someone else. Before long I would have $4000 in that thing and be lucky to sell it for $2500.
I bought a Case VAC a few years ago that was only a mile down the road. Drove it home. Paid $600 for it. I am thinking how can I go wrong. Well by the time the I put new tires on it, rebuilt the engine, put a 3 point hitch on it and fixed everything my total is $4000. Love the tractor but will never break even on it. The first time I put it to work running a mower it burned about a quart of oil and hour. I drove the tractor back in the shed and turned it off. I heard hissing from both rear tires. Looked and both rears had split out from dry rot at the same time.
