If working plowed ground, better use a Drag first, to settle the soil some to improve traction..
If you do, a 6'will be fine..(ofcourse, you could mount Dual rear wheels and pull a light 8' Double Disc)...I have seen that fairly often (and a Weight-Box on the front)..
The Weight Box was for counter weight to keep the front on the ground when the rear implement is raised..
